In this video, Dr. Richard Carrier surveys the evidence we have about the early church fathers and the historical Jesus. Essentially they didn't even try to investigate the historical veracity of Jesus. Papias doesn't relay any historical information about Jesus. He repeats hearsay as fact and never references anything other than scripture. Justin Martyr was not convinced because of the historical veracity of the faith. He only cared about the truth that Christianity was presenting and not whether it was true. The early church fathers didn't care if Jesus was a historical person. In this video, Trent Horn and I discuss the absence of ancient non-christian sources for Jesus. Trent was wanting to know more about the mythicist position on the ancient silence around Jesus. I don't think that is positive proof that Jesus didn't exist, I just think that it doesn't help the historicist hypothesis. It is curious that there were no extra-biblical non-christian sources mentioning Jesus but that still could be true for a minimal historicist view of Jesus. I think the claims of the Gospels not being mentioned by ancient non-christian historians is a blow to that idea of Jesus. Mythicists CAN'T Answer THESE Questions: Mystery Religions | Part 1

In this video, Elliot Saxton, an illiterate fool who learned about history 6 months ago, decided there are a number of questions that Mythicists can't answer. The first question is about Mystery religions. He butchers what minimal mythicism says about mystery religions in regard to Christianity. He claims we say that Christianity started that way, but the earliest known form of Christianity was a mystery religion. He then goes on to ask what legitimate scholars agree with this idea. Of course, those are easy to find if you want to find them. But I take this opportunity to really beat this question to death. I lay out the common attributes that all mystery religions make use of in their mythologies. First, they all centered around a central savior deity who was the son of God that suffered and through that suffering procured salvation for everyone in the religion. This suffering was typically called passion. All mystery religions had an initiation ritual like baptism that allowed the congregants to symbolically reenact the passion their savior endured which allowed them to share in the salvation provided by their savior. All mystery religions involved a ceremonial meal that allowed communion between each congregation individually and their god. Another connection that Christianity has with mystery religions is that it follows the same trends that mystery religions do. Namely Monotheism, Syncretism, Individualism, and Cosmopolitanism. The fact that Christianity has the theological structure of mystery religions and follows the same trends as mystery religions make it incredibly unlikely that all of these connections are coincidental. I also cite examples of Paul using mystery religion language to describe Christians and Christianity. Paul also refers to the doctrines of Christianity as mysteries. Seems like Elliot would look less like a fool if he'd learn to read the academic source material. These 3 Arguments DON'T Prove God Exists

In Today's video, we will be discussing 3 arguments that will never prove that God exists. First is the Cosmological argument. There are several objections to the Kalam Cosmological Argument that cast doubt on its validity. First, it assumes that everything that begins to exist has a cause, but this assumption may not hold at the subatomic level where particles can appear spontaneously out of nothing. This undermines the argument's claim that everything that begins to exist must have a cause. Even if we accept the first two premises, it does not necessarily follow that the cause of the universe is God. There could be other explanations, such as a natural cause or a multiverse hypothesis. The argument assumes that the cause of the universe is uncaused, eternal, and powerful, but it is not clear why this must be the case. The argument provides no evidence to support this assumption. Next, they use the fine-tuning argument. Scientists in relevant fields recognize the infeasible nature of this argument. First, it relies on the idea that only our universe can exist with the exact constants that we have now. In reality, we don't know what constants would be necessary for any type of universe to come into existence. Finally, they attempt to use NDE as evidence for God. There are several reasons why NDEs do not necessarily provide evidence for God's existence. NDEs are subjective experiences that vary greatly from person to person. While some people report encountering a religious figure or a divine presence, others do not report any religious or spiritual elements. This suggests that the experience is not necessarily tied to a particular religion or deity. NDEs can be explained by natural phenomena such as a lack of oxygen to the brain or the release of certain chemicals in the brain. While the exact cause of NDEs is still not fully understood, there is evidence to suggest that they are not necessarily supernatural or divine in nature. Even if we accept that NDEs are real experiences, they do not necessarily prove the existence of God. There could be other explanations, such as a collective unconscious or a manifestation of the brain's natural coping mechanisms. Finally, even if some people do report encountering a religious figure or a divine presence during an NDE, this does not necessarily mean that the experience is evidence of the existence of a specific religion or deity. It could simply be a manifestation of the person's own beliefs or cultural background. In conclusion, while NDEs can be fascinating and meaningful experiences for those who report them, they do not necessarily provide conclusive evidence for the existence of God or a particular deity. As he's dancing around naked because he thinks he's invisible he starts talking about people getting yoked and taking his yoke and doing some freaky shit with it. Needless to say, the Whiskey was stout tonight. In a moment of clarity, on stage with his dick out, he tells everyone to don't be a fuckin dick and you'll be right. Then Jesus pissed off the Pharisees when he claims to be God himself but this is only in one of the accounts of that strange drunken night.
