Flat Earther Thinks These Questions Prove A Local Sun
Teacher or professor: Godless Engineer
Subject: Science, Politics
Content of the Lesson: Flat Out Hero, a flat earther, thinks that these simple science questions prove a local sun but he's sadly mistaken. The first question is, in his words, "Why is it so hot in Arizona but cold in the Arctic/Antarctica?" Well, my feeble-minded random internet person, the simple answer is the axial tilt of the earth. When the sun's light rays hit the earth on the portion tilted towards the sun it has a smaller angle of incidence causing more heat to be absorbed into a smaller area. On the portion that is tilted away from the sun, the sun ray's angle of incidence is bigger and allows the energy to be spread out over a wider area. His next question is about the Apollo missions and why they didn't have to take a 2300 degree change in temperature on the moon into account. Well, they didn't because that number doesn't make sense in the context of the moon.
