Will Smith Unfairly Demonizes Atheists

Content of the Lesson: Recently, Will Smith unfairly demonized atheists and claims that they shouldn't be elected to political office. He says that "I would hope that a part of what we’re learning right now is the destructive aspects of loveless, godless leadership. Do not elect people that don’t have God and love in their hearts." How does God change anything about a person's demeanor? God just gives people the ability to rationalize their bad deeds. Another thing to consider is that there have only been 12 atheists elected to public office. Regardless of how you feel about Trump's sincerity in his religious faith, he still claims Christianity. You can't say he's not Christian. The overwhelming majority of people that have been elected to office have been Christian. The politicians that voted against the abolishment of slavery were Christian. The politicians that voted against women’s suffrage were Christian.
