Paul The Apostle Never Claims To Know Eyewitnesses Of Jesus Christ

Content of the Lesson: Today we are taking a look at another portion of my McLatchie debate where we discuss any supposed eyewitnesses mentioned by Paul the Apostle. Officially, Paul never identifies anyone as an actual eyewitness of Jesus. The few verses you could claim for this aren't as definitive as McLatchie wants to think. He brings up the reference to the "twelve" and the reference to James as "the brother of the lord" or "the lord's brother." The Twelve The Twelve is very ambiguous and doesn't directly say that it is the disciples. There is a lot of speculation around what Paul meant by the twelve and it would be very odd for him to mean the twelve "disciples." When Paul mentions the Twelve it is in the context of who received a revelation of Jesus after his supposed death. Disciples were those that literally followed him in life, according to the gospels, and Judas was not among those that received revelation. James the brother of the Lord The reference here is too ambiguous to claim whether he meant a blood brother or cultic brother. More likely he means a cultic brother because he has a doctrine that has all baptized Christians being a brother/sister of the lord.
