Content of the Lesson: Today I discuss my thoughts surrounding the connection between the Israelites / Jews and the Inanna myths. Namely the Descent of Inanna and how that may have impacted the Israelite culture. We start out discussing some finer points of Inanna and the Descent of Inanna. Namely, the idea that she's a Dying and Rising God, albeit the motif is a bit outdated and wrong in some areas. We discuss the abandoning of her offices and that compared with the Jesus narrative of Mark. We discuss how much time was spent in the underworld and whether we can know how long the mourning rituals would have taken. Finally, we discuss the references to the Inanna myth in the Old Testament and if it is possible for the Israelites / Jews to have known about the Descent of Inanna specifically.
