Uncovering the Earliest References to Mythicists ft. Dr. Richard Carrier

In this video, Dr. Richard Carrier and I discuss the earliest references to mythicists in the Christian discourse. Chrissy Hansen claims that nobody started entertaining the idea of a non-historical Jesus figure until the 1600s. There are references to groups of Christians and non-Christians referencing a Christ figure that wasn't historically based as early as the 2nd century. It's often claimed that since nobody was discussing the idea that Jesus didn't historically exist, that is evidence against mythicism. That is wrong though because there were groups debating this very topic almost as soon as Christianity started.
