First Light with the New Equipment
Tonight I am going to work with some recently obtained equipment: SV80 Stellar Vue 80mm Doublet Refractor (focal length 550mm). This was tested last night and is stable enough on my Exos 2 Mount to give THREE MINUTE exposures. We'll use it to track satellites (very good at for that) and see some galaxies (not as good, need the big meade for that). See the astrophoto in the community tab, the Whirlpool Galaxy (M51) I took last night with this telescope. We have two comets tonight and we'll see if we can find them. For fun I"ll put the Canon 300mm camera on the new iOptron SmartEQ mount (my new travel set up) and get some real wide field of the Virgo Galaxy Cluster. We'll hit that with the telescope as well. Looking for a session from 11pm EDT to about 2 am tomorrow.
