The first patients are being admitted to hospitals, including the emergency room of the Bichat clinic. Day after day, patients, their families and the nursing staff have to take up the fight against a still unknown disease. Healthcare workers talk openly about the pandemic, life and death. The Covid 19 pandemic has put many hospitals into a state of emergency. The Bichat hospital in the north of Paris is no exception: since April 2020, the clocks have been ticking differently for the staff and the patients in the intensive care unit. Monitoring screens, ventilation tubes and protective equipment set the pace. The situation is very serious and the news is disturbing. Constantly rising case numbers, pressing questions, speculation and talk shows on TV - all this is also a topic in the intensive care unit, a place of extreme tension. The beeping of the equipment and the bustling activity create a constant background noise. The treatment of covid patients requires the full commitment of the staff. This documentary shows how a clinic that is already under pressure is increasingly pushed to its limits by the coronavirus - even to the point of asking whether to continue treatment. Among images of grieving families and patients on ventilators, there are also moving moments: tears of relief, joy or smiles flitting across tired faces. This is a documentary about the emergency that occurred with the coronavirus, but also about people who stand together in solidarity in the fight against the disease, trying everything to save lives.
