Whirlpool Galaxy | Live Orion 110 Refractor

Tonight the weather is finally breaking, the telescope is working perfectly and the new computer has made all the difference. Should be a great evening as soon as the last of the clouds clear around midnight. In addition we are going to work with a new tracking program that MAY allow me to track satellites in real time with the telescope. Clear weather is predicted from midnight to 6am my time, so looks like we'll pull an all nighter. Tonight we are going to have a look at both the Whirlpool Galaxy (on the thumbnail) and the Black Eye Galaxy. If the Gods of Astronomy (Hail Sagan) are with us, we'll see some other targets with the powerful Meade and the new computerized mount. This is the first decent evening (at least for a couple of hours) in weeks, so brew some tea and join me between about 730 and 11pm and we put the new telescope and software through its paces.
