Their incredible story of survival contains an unspeakable truth: they were forced to eat the corpses of their fellow crash victims. Uruguayan Air Force Flight 571 was a chartered flight that was bound for Santiago, Chile. On October 13, 1972, while crossing the Andes, the aircraft began descending too early and crashed into a mountain. Both wings and the tail section of the plane were torn off. The flight was carrying 45 passengers and crew, including members of the Old Christians Club rugby union team. The event was later known as Andes flight disaster.
