Content of the Lesson: In this episode we examine how Andrew Wakefield attempted to profit from his sham study of MMR induced Colitis and Autism. Wakefield had developed a test for vaccine derived measles virus and a univalent measles vaccine to capitalize on the vaccine panic his study produced. When pressed to confirm his findings with a larger study, he balked and was fired from his position. The millions he hoped to make from his study evaporated when his findings from his 1998 paper linking the MMR to Autism could not be confirmed.
