Lofi Girl For Nerds | Radio Jove | Solar Flares

This is live solar activity from SpaceWeatherLive.com and my Radio Jove set up. During the day we monitor for solar flares and at night for Radio Activity from Jupiter. On the left of the screen is the official Radio Jove channel. Just above it is a graph of current solar activity. On the right is the waterfall from my SDR monitoring 18-25 MHz. The diagonal lines on both tracings are 'sweepers' which are radars (defense and ionospheric sounding) located down on the Gulf of Mexico. Solar and Jupiter bursts appear as light, irregular lobes coming in from the top on Radio Jove and from the right on my SDR. Compare the two and watch the frequency activity. Sharp vertical lines are lightning, both local and distant- these are vertical on Radio Jove (left) and horizontal on mine. The horizontal sharp lines on Radio Jove (vertical on mine) are local radio transmissions. To compare the two traces, just mentally rotate my record on the Right counterclockwise 90 degrees. This is mostly for those familiar with it. I'm still learning about it myself and once I am comfortable with my understanding I'll do a video on this topic.
