Romania has greater gas resources than most European countries. With its unexploited Black Sea gas reserves, it could theoretically free itself from gas imports and start supplying neighbouring countries. But Romanian legislation is not favourable to development. Even so, an oil rig has been built of the Romanian coast which has been extracting natural gas since June 2022.
