The Dangerous Job of Growing Tea I ARTE.tv Documentary
Thousands of small farmers grow tea on the steep slopes of the coastal mountains in Turkey. Because the sacks of harvested tea leaves are large and heavy, the tea pickers use cobbled-together cable cars to carry the harvest up or down the hill to the road. 16 people have died in cable car accidents over the past decade, but hundreds more have lost limbs. One engineer is calling for standardised, safe infrastructure to be set up - but politicians don't seem interested.
