Doppler Shift and the ISS

The radio repeater frequency on the ISS is 427.8 MHz, I've tuned the SDR to that and we'll watch the ISS pass. Current location of the ISS is in the insert. As the ISS passes, you will be able to clearly see the doppler shift in the radio signal, it will be higher than the carrier (437.8 MHz) as it approaches, equal the carrier as it passes station (a line perpendicular to the path of the ISS passes through my location) and then it will drop below the carrier as it moves away. We should get a couple of passes before the range is too far. Discord Link: https://discord.gg/nFf7EnMm8D Frequency of the ISS Repeater: 437.8 MHz https://www.amsat.org/amateur-radio-on-the-iss/ Current Location of the ISS: https://www.astroviewer.net/iss/en/index.php Range of detection is 2500KM, we will acquire the signal HIGHER (to the right of center) than 437.8 because the ISS is approaching us. When it 'passes station' it will be on the center frequency of 437.8. As it moves away the frequency will drop below (to the left of center). This is a demonstration of the doppler shift. Brainiacs out there will be able to use the location and velocity of the shift to calculate the speed of the ISS. NOTE: YOU MUST SUBSCRIBE TO THE CHANNEL (AT LEAST 5 MIN) TO POST TO THE LIVE STREAM.
