The Radius of the Earth | Method Al Biruni

The Method Al Biruni is the classic means of finding the radius of the earth. Advantages include that all measurements can be done in a local area (rather than two measurements widely apart). Disadvantages include the need to have a clear horizon and the effect of refraction on the dip angle to the horizon.
