Studying the Moon in Detail

Sorry the 12 year old came out in me and I had to find a 'Flat Moon' for the Thumb. Tonight we start our detailed study of the moon for my upcoming series on the 'Common Sense Science' Channel. This is the first of many data collection streams for that multipart series. MOON TONIGHT: 84% Waning Gibbous and we will start with our examination of the craters and features of the Sea of Tranquility and the Sea of Serenity. There are a number of interesting features including the Seas themselves, craters, mountains, lava tubes and fault lines. We will also review the landing sites of manned spacecraft and probes. WEATHER: Cold and clear, wind 8 mph In this series, we will look at 17 specific study areas on the moon, through many phases in both direct and oblique light. We will use both the 110mm Refractor and the 10" SCT. The companion book is "The Moon in Close Up' by John Wilkinson I want to thank my subscribers, patreons, members and those that have supported the channel with PayPal for making this possible. Info on the equipment: Optical Tube- Orion EON 110 Refractor Mount- Exos2-PMC Finder and Guide- Red Dot and Optical Finder Scopes, Optical Guide Scope Cameras- ZWO294 (Main) and ZWO 120 on the guide scope Special Thanks to Judy, Ron and Rob for their exceptional support of the channel.
