Content of the Lesson: Matthew Bailey is the operations manager for the National Transonic Facility Complex at NASA’s Langley Research Center in Hampton, Virginia. Bailey began his career at NASA as an intern and now works in a management role. He oversees the operations at two cryogenic wind tunnels that specialize in high Reynolds number or flight Reynolds number testing – world’s best at matching scaling effects of aerodynamic problems. The facility is currently testing a model of the Space Launch System, the rocket that will send humans to the Moon by 2024.
